What is The Resilient Performer?

The Resilient Performer is a 12-week psychoeducational programme built on Julia Grieshofer’s original doctoral research into resilience and emotion regulation in professional actors.

It is not therapy — it is a structured, skills-based programme that teaches you how your psychology works, why performers are uniquely vulnerable, and what you can do about it. Evidence-based tools from MBT, CBT, and Interpersonal Therapy, translated into accessible language for performers.

Participants gain lifetime access to video lessons, workbooks, audio practices, a digital journal, coping cards, and a resilience tracker.

  • 12 weekly video lessons (20–30 minutes each)
  • Downloadable workbooks for every session
  • Audio practices: grounding, activation, regulation
  • A digital journal with weekly MBT prompts
  • Coping card library — browse, save, use
  • Activation thermometer check-ins
  • Resilience tracking across the programme
  • Lifetime access including future updates

Questions & answers

Is this therapy?

No. The Resilient Performer is a psychoeducational programme — it teaches psychological skills and concepts grounded in clinical research, but it is not a substitute for therapy and does not involve a therapeutic relationship. If you need one-to-one support, Julia offers individual therapy at the Performer Clinic.

Do I need any prior knowledge of psychology?

None at all. The programme is designed to be accessible for performers at any career stage, with no background in psychology required. The concepts are introduced clearly and built up week by week.

Can I do this alongside therapy?

Yes — many participants find the programme a valuable complement to their clinical work. The skills covered are evidence-based and widely used in clinical settings.

What if I fall behind?

You have lifetime access to all materials. The programme is self-paced — the weekly structure is a guide, not a deadline. Take it at whatever pace works for you.

This is a psychoeducational programme — not therapy or clinical treatment. It is designed for performers who are psychologically well and want to build skills. If you are experiencing significant mental health difficulties, please speak with your GP or contact the Performer Clinic for individual clinical support at enquiries@performerclinic.co.uk.
